I am wondering why in our pictures we always look like Indians (and I have nothing against them), that is why people all over the world have the wrong conception about Ecuador and his people.

Anyway, yesterday was a very important day in my country, we were invited to vote, we had the power of decide who will be the next President for the next 4 years, and I think that is amazing.
I want to be positive and don't talk about the dark side of the democracy (that side allowed us change 7 Presidents in the last 10 years), I pray for my people to make the best decision between the last 2 candidates.
The late news proclaim 2 winners to go in a second round, the first one Rafael Correa is a communist, a new face (pretty face btw), his political experience is been a former Economy Minister for about 4 months, I heard from students that is an excellent teacher, charming and polite, good friend of Hugo Chavez, he will try to implant the same politic in our country, in my opinion ... a big liar with a pretty face.
The second one is Alvaro Noboa, the richest man in Ecuador owner of 110 companies, this is his third time trying to be President and maybe this time he will get it, not very charm on TV but very intelligent and with great advisers behind.
The next election will be in November 25th.

Hola! I think to look 'ethnic' is something we should be proud of! Unfortunately (or fortunately for some) in our latin countries there are less and less pure 'indios'. We are all a conglomerate of mestizos, Europe and Latinamerica and if you think about, Spain was for long time occupied by the Arabs, so there you go: a wonderful mix. I wish, however, I looked more 'india'. After living in Europe I learnt to treasure our legacy. We do not know and do not appreciate it in our own countries. And on top of everything here, in the middle-east, is again RIDICULOUS because there are lots of biases and prejudgements, and blonds not only have more fun, but more access to a decent salary, nicer treatment and so on. Nevertheless, be proud that your country shows your 'indians'!! I have to admit that coincidently may latins I know here look more European. In any case I wish the press showed the ethnic part of our societies not just with political aims but also with the pride and honour our people deserve!
